The Place of Women in Our Society
Women all over the world fighting against gender discrimination and India is no exception. Gone are the days when a woman’s role was only to take care of the house and give birth to children and raise them. Rani Rasmani, Bhagavati Devi (mother of Vidyasagar), Indira Gandhi and many other women have proved that even in traditional India, women could lead a noble and respectable life.

Today we have women I.P.s officers, Directors of top business houses, Judge, Airplane Pilots, Engineers, Accountants- indeed the list is never-ending.

Women have also excelled in the fields of literature, art, music, dance and fashion. Women’s organisations are fighting against various kinds of injustice suffered by the sex. Steps are being taken to have one-third of the total seats in all forms of government reserved for women. Yet, even today, incidents like beating of wives, molestation and rape of women take place. All this has to be stopped. Every woman has the right to live with dignity and respect. Men have to consider this fact seriously.
