One day I had a trip to a country side. With tea in the flask and tiffin
in the kits I reached Esplanade to catch the state bus for Digha. The bus
started in the morning with a few seats vacant. The seats of the bus were soft.
Soon it got out of Kolkata. It raced through rural Bengal. After two hours the
bus stopped near a road side hotel.

Many passangers got out of the bus for tea
and tiffin. After half an hour we again started our journey. I enjoyed the
charming scene on both sides of the road. The houses and fields on either side
of the road rushed past in the opposite direction. The trees, huts and the
posts passed by us one after another. A tank or two caught my sight. I saw some
men and women bathing and swimming in the tank.

The village boys
shouted to us with joy and gesture. The dogs barked in chorus as they caught
sight of our bus. We had a good meal at Kharagpur. The bus started again and
after a long time we reached Digha at midday.
