Cleanliness is next to godliness. It is a great virtue. It makes a man healthy and happy. It keeps away diseases. Man must maintain cleanliness-cleanliness of body and mind. Dirt and germs are at the root of all diseases. The germs of diseases breed in dirt. A man must do his teeth daily, wash up the hands, feet and face regularly. He should bathe his body daily and thoroughly in clean water. He must wear clean clothes. Coming back from outside one must wash one's hands, feet and face well to wipe out dirt.
One must not spit or drop litter at wrong places. This practice makes the place dirty and pollutes the air. Cleanliness is necessary for keeping company with civilised society. Nobody likes to sit beside a dirty man. Cleanliness of body and mind is a must for a learned man. It is needed for self respect. Virtue cannot dwell with dirt. Cleanliness is a mark of politeness. It produces affection. Beauty produces love but cleanliness preserves it.
