Man is a curious
animal. Curiosity is a strong desire to know the unknown. It is inborn in man.
It is the first and simplest nature in human mind. The desire to know the
unknown or to get into a secret or a mystery comes out of curiosity. Curiosity
is at the root of all inventions, discoveries and human progress. Curiosity
leads to knowledge and development. It was the curiosity of Columbus that led
to the discovery of America. If Newton was not curious about the cause of the
fall of an apple, he would not have been able to discover the 'Laws of Falling
Bodies'. All curiosity wants satisfaction. But one should not be curious about
everything at every stage. So there is a saying 'Curiosity killed the cat’.
Many men want to know about other's personal matters. It can lead to troubles.
Higher curiosity leads to good activities. It is an appetite for knowledge. It
is the parent of attention. So we should channel our curiosity into right
routes.
